A1: The module accepts inputs from proximity probes and magnetic pickups. However, magnetic pickups are not suitable for reverse rotation or zero-speed detection.

Q2: Can this module be used as a primary overspeed protection system?
A2: No. The module is not designed for standalone overspeed protection or speed control systems, as it lacks protective redundancy and fast response capability.

Q3: What is the maximum number of events per revolution supported?
A3: The module supports up to 255 events per revolution. Some channel types start from 0.0039 events per revolution.

Q4: Is a separate Keyphasor module required when using this Tachometer Module?
A4: No. The 3500/50M can condition and distribute Keyphasor signals to the rack backplane, eliminating the need for a separate Keyphasor module.

Q5: What are the available output signals for monitoring purposes?
A5: The module provides 4–20 mA analog outputs and buffered transducer outputs. These are suitable for data logging, chart recording, or display—not protection.

Q6: Can alarms be configured with delay settings?
A6: Yes. Alarm 1 can be delayed from 1 to 60 seconds (1 sec steps), while Alarm 2 allows finer control from 1 to 60 seconds in 0.1-second steps.

Q7: What is the minimum detectable shaft speed for proximity probe inputs?
A7: With proximity probes, the minimum input frequency is 0.0167 Hz, equivalent to 1 rpm for 1 event per revolution.

Q8: Is the module compliant with hazardous area standards?
A8: Yes. It supports certifications including cNRTLus (Class I, Div 2) and ATEX/IECEx (Zone 2), depending on the I/O module used and installation drawings.
